Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you’d want to know before booking a session.
You’ll know what’s coming long before you pull into the driveway. I send a welcome email the week before, a packing list two days out, and a short video the day prior letting you know how excited I am to see you. When you arrive at my home studio, you’ll text me, and I’ll meet you with open arms, ready to help carry in wardrobe (many clients pack a full suitcase!). Inside, you’ll find your name on a welcome board, fresh flowers if they’re part of your package, and your favorite genre or artist already playing on the speaker. Toasty in winter, cool in summer. The whole point is that the moment you walk in, you feel taken care of.
Yes...and the proof is in what clients say afterward: “It’s over already?” and “There are too many good photos to choose from.” Most people freeze in front of a camera because they think it’s their job to know how to look photogenic. It’s not, that’s mine. Through a Zoom or email pre-consultation, I learn about your hobbies, your interests, and (privately) any body insecurities. Then I show up to the session ready to direct you so the camera sees you the way you deserve to be seen. The moment you stop trying and start playing is when we both hit a flow state, and that’s when the magic happens.
I create a sensory-informed experience tailored to each individual. Before the session, I ask about sensitivities to light (I can switch to constant or natural light if flash is too much), touch (I always ask before fixing stray hairs or clothing), smell (the studio is scent-free and nut-free), sound (loud party music or quiet calm, your call), and movement (I check in about dizziness or any way your body prefers not to move). I also build a custom mood board for every client, even if it’s “just a headshot.” No two sessions look the same, because no two people do.
After your session, you’ll get a private link to your Proofing Gallery, where you can see all of your straight-out-of-camera images. Take your time scrolling through and look for the photos that feel like the truest version of you...the ones with your genuine expression, your real smile. Then we’ll hop on a short Zoom call to talk through your Favorites and my retouching strategy for each one. I only edit your Favorites, never every image, because the photos you keep should be the ones you truly love.
